It’s blowing my mind that schools, universities, public services would run headlong into this. We spent 15 years documenting black boxes. This is a black box in a black hole!
I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

You think LLM-based chatbots can help students learn? Think again.

Take a few minutes to listen to Dr. @drtanksley.bsky.social clear explanation why this is very bad, harmful idea, especially for Black students.

This wide-ranging response from Dr @drtanksley.bsky.social on AI inadequacies & profound harms in education, reinforcement of racism, anti-blackness, dehumanisation & inequality, & the health & environmental harms of the AI industry is a terrific listen

And universities have signed on to this 🤬

I truly think it is a mistake to lose sight of the historical role that DEI played -- a conservative move against affirmative action and more radical movements for justice and liberation -- simply because now the conservatives hate old conservative ideas

I understand the attacks on DEI as sheer racism, misogyny, transphobia, and especially misogynoir

But also DEI was a really wack framework and I'm not gonna be like "it was so good and we need it"

Historically, DEI was a stepping stone on the journey to the current civil rights framework collapse

Yes I notice when someone didn’t bring up disability at all when they were arguing for their bad technology idea but then bring it up when all the other arguments aren’t working

Disabled people aren’t a vehicle for scoring rhetorical points 🙃

Billionaires are bad for business. That isn't a political take. It's logic. If i have a billion dollars, i am buying things for me and my family. If you gave a thousand people a million dollars ( BECAUSE A BILLION IS A THOUSAND MILLION) they would buy things for them and their families.

The Dems fumbling an easy win is the brand at this point. In fact, it may not even be right to call it fumbling, it might just be part of their strategy to lose where it matters

DISCUSS SUICIDE WITH CHATGPT

EVERY *WEEK*

what the fuck are we DOING here
Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.

This is horrible news. This program is a huge success, identifies brilliant scholars and gives them a transitional landing place that can help them land a tenure track job in the system. It’s a win for students, their programs, and all the schools in the system. Why end it?
