Smart piece by @bharatramamurti.bsky.social on how political leaders can solve the Affordability Conundrum — address immediate voter pain through price controls and increase supply in the long-term through anti-monopoly and industrial policies.
The Other Big Winner in Yesterday's Elections
Yesterday’s elections were a big win for Democrats—and for price controls.

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)

Rosen (2030)

“woke” is when you acknowledge that black people have contributed to the united states
Two panels commemorating the contribution of Black American soldiers towards the liberation of the Netherlands in World War Two have been quietly removed from a cemetery in Limburg. It follows a complaint by right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission.

ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections

Pains me to say it but I think this is true. Some of my colleagues in the media who’ve stayed on X don’t even realize how badly its noxious algorithm is skewing their perception of politics and reality.

Also, that place seems designed to make you miserable unless you’re a Nazi. It’s just wretched.
Tonight's even more proof the mainstream reporters who are still on Twitter are suffering from a brain problem akin Havana Syndrome that is preventing them from accurately doing their jobs. They are being cooked alive by a snuff-focused apartheid algorithm.

This belief is insane. SaaS gets replaced by SaaS. Salesforce should be worried because it's a comically expensive product given the current cost of software development, support, etc. LLMs for sure are reducing the cost of developing software, but no one is replacing SaaS with chatbots.

The interesting thing about not having a reality-based epistemology is that you’re left with weird power struggles over truth authority, since you really have nothing to base anything on beyond rhetoric, vibes and positioning.

I don’t know any Trump supporters who like or respect (or read) the NYT. I know fewer and fewer non-Trump supporters who like or respect or read it either. What is their game plan? People who pay for newspapers who don’t have any political opinions?
I looked at 38 papers. The NYT was one of only a few not to have it as the top story and photo

The handful of exceptions were pretty much all places with a big D1 football game

I genuinely don't understand why the NYT is so reticent to give coverage to one of the largest protests in history
