So sad about the death of Diane Keaton. (Doesn’t feel real to even write that.) Whether in a film or interview, she was always fun, funny, insightful, smart, with incredible style. A unique talent and person, a treasure. #RIPDianeKeaton

What kid wouldn’t want *double checks menu* a chore chart as their super cool reward for behaving? I can only blame Cold War paranoia requiring military efficiency starting with the children. But, hey, kids, enjoy your creamed chicken and peas!

Every time I drive by it on Smithfield St. here in my hometown of Pittsburgh, I think of its impact.
On June 19, 1905, 450 people attended the opening of the nickelodeon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by impresario/showman Harry Davis. While not nation's first theater for moving pictures, its success made it birthplace of the movie theater as a place for mass entertainment.

Watched LA BANDERA (1935). Not sure why this isn't as well-known and regarded as Pépé Le Moko. Made two years earlier, directed by Julien Duvivier and starring Jean Gabin. Gabin murders a man then joins the Foreign Legion in Spain to escape but, he's doomed. Loved Annabella. Loved the movie.
