That sounds great. What was the quote?
I know Shakespeare's alot earlier, but we kind of view it through the lens of that time
This isn't really a political point and Shakespeare and the English language is important. I just wonder why we celebrate a Victorian era sensibility so much, when there are probably a lot more interesting things about the indigenous people from the time
I know Shakespeare was big entertainment in "the wild west", with Victorian actors touring the states and almost certainly Canada. I wonder what the Native Americans thought about it all? Seeing the settlers who brutalised them, then suddenly do all this strange performative stuff
Wow that is a lot. SUA here is similarly surrounded by rural communities.

It might seem like a strange question, but are there alot of indigenous communities in your area?
Strange, their memories of England must have been poor. The Avon flows into the Severn.

Do you have the outdoor Shakespeare stuff in parks through Canada? I know the US does

It's incredible that Mary Shelley was just 18 years old when she wrote "Frankenstein" and 200 years later people are still thinking about it and talking about it and remaking it.

How many works of art have that kind of lasting impact?

#NowListening to 'Copper Blue' by Sugar. There are very few 'perfect' albums, but I think that this qualifies. Complete killer, no filler.

I knew Conan Doyle was a spiritualist, but I didn’t realise publishing books by ouija board was a thing.

At this moment in 1952 (7:14:59 AM November 1, local time), the United States tested the first true (albeit undeliverable, weighing a massive 82 tons) hydrogen bomb at Enewetak Atoll. The 10.4-Megaton MIKE explosion vaporized Elugelab Island, leaving behind a crater 1.2 miles wide and 164 feet deep.

M&WGF is gorgeous, funny and one of the first shows to really do male mental health in an entertaining way (now everyone's doing it)
I think Bob Mortimer and also Ross Noble never fail to be funny. Must be something about the north east.
Oh I wasn't expecting it to be that small 😆

Because the Avon is associated with flooding here, it's kind of weird to realize that by the time it reaches Stratford Upon Avon it's pretty much the furthest point in Britain from the sea.

Various pizzerias nearby the Pentagon are reporting above average traffic.

The last time pizzerias near the Pentagon reported such high activity was right before the start of Operation Rising Lion, when the United States destroyed Iran's nuclear weapons development facilities.

Resuming nuclear testing would mark a massive shift in U.S. policy.

Here's why the U.S. and world stopped testing years ago.
Why the U.S. stopped testing nuclear bombs
The military played a large role in the testing of nuclear weapons for decades.

New START, the last bilateral treaty imposing verifiable legal constraints on the maximum number of US and Russian operational strategic nuclear delivery systems and warheads, expires in 100 days. On February 5, 2026, Trump and Putin will be able to deploy as many nuclear weapons as they want.
OTD 15 years ago, President Barack Obama and President Dmitry Medvedev signed the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty in Prague, Czech Republic. New START—which expires on February 5, 2026—limits each country to 1,550 deployed strategic warheads and a combined total of 700 ICBMs, SLBMs, and bombers.
