i am not usually shrill about media consumption as a moral metric. i read historical romances, a genre riddled with colonial fantasies and gender essentialism! but the thing is that none of those authors are billionaires converting my money directly into anti-trans violence

It is incredibly fucking onerous, because some nondisabled asshole somewhere is like WAIT, what if someone who doesn’t deserve it gets help?!
Meanwhile, every disabled person: good on them! We all need to take care of ourselves and doctors don’t always understand our realities!

So here’s the thing: I, a certified Disabled™️ Person, do not actually care if anyone fakes for an extra 20 minutes on the test. I care deeply about how the fear of that very thing puts up flaming hoops disabled people have to jump through.

Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.
