Yes, it's about CO₂, CH₄, W/m², and every ±0.1°C.
But yes, moving off oil, coal, and gas is about improving economic competitiveness and human prosperity for decades to come.

10 years ago, before the Paris agreement, it was 3.6°C
20+ years ago, we thought it would be 4-5°C
So 2.6°C is better, but the problem is that climate impacts are way worse than we predicted.

Yes LNG is booming but what I was told by peer experts who were at all of the last 5 COPs was that COP28 felt like a last hurrah for LNG. AI was seen as it's saviour. But everyone was expecting a fade out.

I think this will be useful. Fossil CO2 emissions keep rising, when they should be falling. It is time to admit that. So I hope the CPS can help address this issue.

The Prize was there too for Australia and other countries too, but the policy and government funding support to pour rocket fuel on the ecosystem means that future is slipping through our fingers.
Analysis shows their CO2 emissions have been flat or declining over the past 18 months.

But now, natural gas won't be ascendant for much longer, or stay there through the end of the century.
The forces driving down climate tech costs are just too strong.

But lemme quibble a bit with the CO₂ₑ emissions pathways painted here.

The extreme -IOD we're currently seeing (right) is about to collapse because the warm water in the Equatorial Indian Ocean will get flushed into the tropical West Pac at depth over the next month in this MJO event's westerly wind burst (left)

Europe needs to understand that is is stronger than Russia, as long as it acts together. Funding Ukraine's defence only seems expensive if you don't compare it to the available alternative options. This is also the fiscally conservative choice.

Nevertheless the Australian Liberal Party is in deep long term trouble if it drops Net Zero, given climate is a key issue with absolute majority support. share.google/gfB8SD7Hg1Pg...

There is a growing concern that the negative valence in climate stories paralyses consumers & perhaps even prevents them from taking pro-environmental actions.
However, we found that climate anxiety is a robust and universal driver of pro-climate behavioral intentions.👇
