Honestly, sometimes it feels like @acadiaediting.bsky.social is in my head. This is one of my favourite work-related podcasts, and this particular episode provided me with an "inspiration right when you need it" listen. (Bonus motivation during a #stetwalk, guaranteed!) pca.st/episode/9522...

Random reminder! Proofreading fixes text; editing strengthens ideas.

Academics often ask for a proofread when they actually need an edit. Both have value, but purposes differ. The writing will benefit from an edit for clarity and coherence before it gets a proofread.

The grant budget isn't just numbers—it's a whole section of the narrative that needs intense editing and integration. Every line item has project implications. Fellow grant editors and writers, tell your teams to start the budget when they start the proposal draft! It impacts ev-er-y-thing.

I finally have time to catch up on admin/business tasks, but my brain is refusing to engage. Is this burnout or do I maybe just need a li'l nap? Guess I'll have to do some very rigorous testing 😴

📣 Pro tip: Funders want to know ~why~ your project matters, not just what it will do. If you're unsure how to highlight this in your proposal, a professional grant writer or editor (👋) can help!

🤨 I was approached today by a large health publishing company to copy edit a project (files included). Not such a bad thing - except my contract with them ended in 2023..

I recently posted on my blog about the pros and cons of using AI in grant writing. It seems there are a lot of tools out there that claim to write an entire grant in just a couple of minutes. But are they winning grants? 🤔 jennrossiter.com/2025/09/22/g...

I'm in that phase of work where all my immediate deadlines have been met and I'm just waiting for things to trickle back in from clients. It's nerve-racking and unavoidable. #AmEditing #AmWriting #AmWaiting

Today has given me ~anxiety~ vibes, but I got a lovely testimonial from a new client and so I'm trying to hold onto that as I decompress. Cat snuggles also help.

Academics can't seem to resist mixing italics, bold, and underlines for emphasis. Add these to headings and you’ve got a formatting crisis. What a delight to find Paul Beverley's "HighlightBoldItalicEtc" #macro to help clean it all up ✨ #AcademicSky #GrantWriting #AmEditing
