Besides my Maine Coon, I have three parakeets. Their ancestors were raised by mine.

Always grateful for them. They wake me up at sunrise without fail.

A small, soft-looking white parakeet named Angel sits snugly inside a hollowed-out coconut shell that serves as a cozy bird hut. Angel’s feathers are a clean, pale white with a hint of cream, and she has a bright yellow beak and tiny dark eyes that make her expression look gentle and curious. Faint violet cheek spots sit near her beak. Her body is tucked comfortably inside the round opening of the coconut, which has a rough, natural brown texture and a smooth circular entrance. The background shows the dark bars of her cage and a bit of a white plastic perch below. The overall scene feels warm and peaceful, like Angel is quietly nesting or resting in her little hideaway.

Two parakeets, Pookie and Greyson, perch side-by-side on a wooden dowel inside their cage. NEWS: A federal appeals court has unanimously ruled that Alina Habba is disqualified from serving as U.S. Attorney in New Jersey — calling her appointment unlawful and void. The 3rd Circuit panel upheld a prior decision that her tenure violated federal appointment law.
