Wishing we could turn the clock back an hour and get a retrial in that dubious call at home plate. Can Daylight Savings Time do that? (I’m from Saskatchewan so don’t know).
I’m told the last train from Union Station in Toronto leaves at 1am, then no trains until 6am. When the game went overtime, half the stadium had to leave early.

It’s 12:15 now.
Some questionable officiating aside, it really is.

Plate umpire is shit tonight
Watched that movie ten times and never noticed that. Will watch for it. Thanks.
I do believe that’s how you say f@&$ you in baseball.

Okay, Blue Jays.
Perhaps the Jays should have considered this

Is this one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in my life? Quite possibly! ❤️❤️❤️ Vladdy Jr. walks into the Blue Jays clubhouse before Game 7 of the 2025 World Series, wearing a Marie-Philip Poulin Team Canada hockey jersey. 😭😍 #BlueJays #WorldSeries #TeamCanada
In offbeat news, Japan has had 12 deaths from bear attacks this year and many dozens of injuries. (Canada averages 1 every 2 years).
Japan’s new defense minister has agreed to send troops to help a northern prefecture deal with a surge in bear attacks that have killed or injured dozens of people, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.

Martin Luther: the original Halloween decorator
It's 31 October. Most people will be thinking about Halloween. Historians, of course, will be thinking about Martin Luther, who nailed his 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg on this day in 1517. 1/4
Lineup for flight to Toronto.

Me (to couple in Blue Jays gear): Going to the game tonight?

Him: Yup. 6 & 7.

Me: What does that mean anyway?

He (puzzled): Games 6 & 7.

Her: I know that! I have no idea what it means either.

Discussion ensues in crowd about what 6 - 7 means.

No one knows.
Canada really is behind the Blue Jays.
Everywhere I go, people are wearing Jays gear. People I know who have never watched baseball (me included) are staying up past midnight to for an 18th inning. The coffee shop has baseball donuts.

And, I cannot emphasize this enough, I am in a city *3000 km from Toronto*

Canada is behind this team

If there are legitimate uses for it (scanning ‘000s of breast scans or sea floor photos or even income tax forms to see what human eyes may have missed, for example), then an “opt in” model seems better than the “opt out” currently being pursued.

What if—hear me out—we don't make ourselves dependent on digital asbestos to begin with? That way we don't need to fear anyone turning it off, because it won't be on in the first place. How does that sound?

All those except dog park: the inevitable peeing on headstones is the problem. Grazing for goats or sheep would work though as they are not quite so deliberate. Remember LA too has movie nights at the cemetary where Rudolph Valentino and others are buried.
Looking forward to it. Need a pot of coffee for this.
Heard similar from
Profs I know: the number of student discipline meetings a prof needs to attend for AI violations means they’re inclined to let small assignments slide.
There are a lot of academics out there who are massively overinvested right now in the vast body of utterly dogshit students they are teaching. It is crazymaking to me to see people say I had meetings with nine LLM cheaters today and it destroyed my soul. Nine losers needing the coup de grâce!
