This man started being at his BM house very regularly around the time I walked my dog and tried to force conversation at least 3 times this summer. I also saw him at the corner store we met at (that I go to regularly) once after I moved.

There are so many reasons related to poverty that one might have poor hygiene, including just not having parents around enough to teach you the right habits, trauma, etc.
I’m gonna be honest some ppl just got indoor plumbing in this country so don’t be surprised that everyone’s hygiene is the same as yours.
There were areas of Virginia in the 90s that still did not have indoor plumbing. They used the bathrooms outside. So yeah having good hygiene is a blessing.
