Incredible figures for a country that has only 5 million people.

Have the government thought about increasing tax revenue by taxing the rich people properly?

Just a thought🤔

Quick explainer. If Govt create and spend $190bn into existence (as they do) and they then collect revenue of $170bn, and destroy it, that leaves $20bn of what Treasury call 'residual cash' in the econony. (🧵 1/n)

Health Minister Simeon Brown says the savings would be “reinvested straight back into patient care”, but Labour says cutting half a billion dollars without affecting patient care “seems impossible”.

So stock is very limited now. Overnight NZ delivery is still guaranteed.

Guess the govt has no confidence its policies will improve homelessness any time soon - so better just make it invisible instead 😡

Seymour displays all the behaviors that describe an abuser or a perpetrator- he’s all about gaining/maintaining power and control - utilising overt/covert, coercive control behaviours with no hold barred tactics …

nz media intentionally failed to learn the lesson that reporting PR verbatim is bad, now we're here

neither Seymour, OR any people reporting on him, would have a career in a half-decent society. But that's not where we are. Both the far-right and nz media have been inching towards outright libel

Wrote something a bit longer - is still rather unfiltered and ranty - about the proposed changes to the Total Mobility scheme for disabled persons.

It's still a sh*tty proposal and now I go into this in more detail in the post:

My own mum recently got access to the scheme after proving her mobility issues & was happy to tell us she could get a taxi to our place affordably. The scheme restores independence to people for whom that is often the first casualty of disability. The government’s cheapness is cruel.

$50k is chump change at the govt level. This is pure anti-science covid cooker bullshit.
Now that it's public: RIP FluTracking, which I understand only cost $50k per year to administer, yet provided incredibly valuable and irreplaceable information on levels of influenza-like-illness.
What an utterly dim decision.

So the increased subsidy increased use. So more elderly & disabled people got out and about. So you’re actually saying the problem is that a policy was too successful so you’re reducing its effectiveness. Very on-brand to only support bad policy & kneecap good policy.
