The anti-Muslim/Arab racism was so bad I remember my friend's little brother being detained for an entire day at the airport bc he had the same name as someone on the no-fly list. He was 8 years old.

This actually spilled over onto my family as well. My cousin, a Dutch Jewish man, got detained at the airport for not looking "Dutch enough." We had no way of contacting him and had no idea where he was. The racism was rampant!

IDK man the idea that Republicans are worse now than they were in the post 9-11 era is just ridic to me as someone who grew up in that era. I remember the 2004 election very well and the misinfo was all over the internet and in the classroom. We literally held a protest at my middle school.
