I have come into possession of the 1979 HEART OF AMERICA debate tournament book. It’s a little stapled schedule and tournament history that also contains a full roster of all the teams attending.
There is also a complete roast of every competitor in that roster. It’s brutal stuff.

A cool thing I just realized. Bluesky’s positivity algorithm means if you are replying to brands or companies with about their treatment of workers, how their products are poor quality or have ethical issues your reply will likely be hidden because it’s not “positive”

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

It's a good statement, but I would like to see folks like Zohran, AOC, etc., tie these horrors back to the need for anti-capitalist policies, mass organizing, etc. So much lefty stuff is "look at this evil, vote for me" and not "look at this evil, let's talk about how to pull it apart."
Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.
