LLMs are a frankly incredible tools for spitting out Latex and the like, the sort of task that previously felt like taking sand paper to my brain
I've always been a "stack multipliers together and eventually doing anything is easy" sort of developer, which had real downsides when "eventually" might be after a startup went under
but like, being able to bomb out "I want to chuck some equations into a blog post" in fifteen minutes is real magic

I feel like this take doesn't deal with the fact that SEO optimized slop was already taking over years before the LLMs
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

The counterfactual I come back to is John Tanner's 2009 bill to ban gerrymandering that went nowhere. D's had a trifecta and is the type of thing that probably could've gotten GOP buy in if they pushed it early enough. But nobody around Obama was thinking that way.
