Wow, this is such a cool paper! Basically with a surprisingly small modification to existing NeRF optimization, this paper gets a really good direct surface reconstruction technique that doesn't require all of the usual mess that meshing a NeRF requires (raymarching, marching cubes, etc).
Methods like NeRF and Gaussian Splats model the world as radioactive fog, rendered using alpha blending. This produces great results.. but are volumes the only way to get there?🤔 Our new SIGGRAPH'25 paper directly reconstructs surfaces without heuristics or regularizers.

this is from back in May, but while youre calling your representatives about the SCREEN act and KOSA, its worth including a mention about the 'Interstate Obscenity Definition Act' (IODA).

remember, you dont need to go into great detail, you just need to be another tally of citizens saying "no"
This bill would criminalize pornography by legally redefining what it means to be obscene.

Period. Full stop. No more porn legally. If you post porn whether free pics or paid vids. this affects you!

seems problematic.
"“If this volume just grows even more, we simply have a societal situation that is not bearable anymore because it is just too much risk that is no longer covered,” Thallinger told CNBC..."

"why would they do this" for information control and to privatize the data via a crony system this is just the postsoviet russian playbook
Head of NASA Sean Duffy intends to destroy a satellite that collects key data on carbon dioxide and plant health, by causing it to burn up in the atmosphere. The U.S. Dept of Agriculture and private agriculture firms use the data to forecast crop yield, drought conditions and more.
Why a NASA satellite that scientists and farmers rely on may be destroyed on purpose
The Trump administration has asked NASA staffers to draw up plans to end at least two satellite missions that measure carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, according to current and former NASA employees.

I think that as an indie game dev without a large publisher, your target audience is not gamers in general, it is sickos.

It's hardcore sickos that will be diving the depths of your genre and finding your game, and it is sickos who will be spreading it.

Please the passionate, not the masses.

This is at least the second method discovered in the last year to help break down harmful PFAS. Given their ubiquity and significant health impacts, it would be really nice to implement some fixes sooner rather than later.

I can’t say it enough: U.S. culture is scam culture. It pervades everything we do. We don’t notice it because it’s the water we swim in. A party would do well to remind everybody how awful this is and propose to fix it.
I think Democrats should offer voters a broadly defined anti-fraud platform. Yes, obviously, start with Trump’s influence peddling, but don’t stop there. Online fraud is massive, almost every phone call you get is a scam, and the solution has to be federal or it just won’t work.
Still, more than 7-in-10 U.S. adults have been a victim of an online scam or attack like credit card fraud, ransomware or online shopping scams. www.pewresearch.org/...

I think a lot of people have forgotten or were never taught in the first place that these kinds of actions need to be an endurance strategy.

If they know you'll give up in 2 days they'll just try to wait you out.

You have to make them understand that this is their life now if they don't fix things
It’s important to remember that this is not going to be fixed in 24 hours. We might have to do activist work on this for a hot minute. But, if we all stay focused and support each other, we can keep this going for a really long time. Longer than any of these companies have the patience for.
we are going to need to keep up this 'yelling at payment processors' energy for more than just today

Ideally, we will need to keep up this pressure over a span of a few weeks

As many people as possible, each making 2-4 calls a day, for a few weeks, is going to make the biggest impact

I'm seeing less posts about the Visa and Mastercard situation and I want to make it plain as day. You need to keep calling and bothering them, and losing them money.

Because if we lose this, they are going to cut more and more from what's available until you can only buy what they approve of.
Spoke with an anon source who had an interesting insight into Visa policy. Per a convo with their bank on the Steam/itchio situation today, Visa put new restrictions into place due to a new "government policy." The exact phrase used by Visa. No specific country was listed as the source of the policy

Hey Americans, if this passes you'll be uploading your ID to every social media and website to access it.
Be aware that another shitty bill has been introduced: The SCREEN Act.

If passed, it would require Full. Age. Verification.

Like KOSA, call all your reps & tell them what a horrible idea this is.

Spread this pls.
