The NSS is like a version of the Eisenhower Doctrine written by the KKK. A commitment to intervene aggressively abroad (especially in Europe) to uphold white supremacy and foreclose the emergence of multi-ethnic democracy. Its a declaration of political race war from a gang of white supremacists.
I can’t help thinking that when, in future, people ask what UK political leaders said as it became undeniable that US saw European liberal democracy as its no1 strategic foe, Starmer and others will regret that the answer is “not much, shuffled awkwardly, looked at their feet”.

Anyone who’s ever actually spoken to a single asylum seeker about their experiences in any country in Europe simply could not honestly conclude that what would improve things would be to further reduce their human rights protections.

It’s vile scapegoating unworthy of us & it needs to end #r4today

Notice how nobody is puking blood with pure blinding white hatred this time? Nobody issuing fiery denunciations, cutting up their cards, roaring abuse, none of that shit. Just a load of people sadly huffing and saying, Well, I guess we will just have to descend into fascism then, nothing to be done.

Very telling that Starmer is using #InternationalHumanRightsDay to call for a reduction in human rights for people fleeing war and persecution.

Who needs the far right when you have the centre left media and politics as a bulwark to do its bidding?

Spare us the "Listening to legitimate concerns".

These concerns are racist, not legitimate, and they are fueled in a top down manner (and still minoritarian)

This is on you

“Labour seems determined to upset and alienate its own voters to appease Reform’s base – who overwhelmingly didn’t vote Labour in 2024, when it won a landslide. Last week’s immigration figures show it will never pay off. Even if the figures say what those voters want them to, they won’t believe it.”
The crazy right will never be satisfied about migration
Keir Starmer slashed net migration as the Mail and Farage demanded - and still got hammered for it

Some don’t understand that demonising refugees& asylum seekers is a red line for any healthy nation. As a group of people, like any other, they include the brilliant, good & bad, but labelling them as lesser humans undeserving of compassion, safety & equality is definitely bad for the whole country.

This shows you that it doesn’t matter what’s actually happening: what matters is what’s on the radio when people drive to work. And this government is surely the disastrously disproven test case for the proposition “the British press can be appeased via crackdowns and authoritarianism”.

I would put it like this. Minority communities and the majority of the majority community have integrated v.well. However, a significant minority of the majority community and a significant majority of the political class are stubbornly refusing to integrate, and that is where the real problem lies.
Fundamentally, the UK is a massive success story on integration and most of the anxiety around it from the right should be treated as in insincere concern trolling it actually is.
Remember integration? That thing voters "really, really" care about? Where's that in the latest plans?

Today is not the day to argue "oh so you want Reform to win then" as an argument for Labour's indefensible and inhumane anti-asylum policies. At least be honest and own that you're defending racist policies promoted with genuinely far right talking points. Don't try and pretend this is "progressive"

When it comes to intimidating racist protests including outside our homes or place of worship, Black and Asian people are supposed to just accept it and the government saying “we hear you” and “it is right to protest this” and “I love flags me”. No thought of “cumulative impact” for us!
NEW: Home Office announces planned new anti-protest powers, mainly aimed at pro-Gaza protests like those for Palestine Action. Police will be able to consider the "cumulative impact" of repeated protests and potentially order that they be relocated.
