If SNAP benefits vanished tomorrow, feeding 42 million Americans for a month would cost about $7.8 billion. That’s less than 1% of the combined net worth of the three richest men in the U.S. A reminder of how obscene inequality has become and how easily hunger could be solved if we chose to.

According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150K trees have been planted & 45ha of parks created in the already hot city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to & manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050.

Just the start.

Common sense.
This is pretty scary stuff. Fellow Americans are not the enemy. They’re just people trying to make it through the day and leave the world a better place for their children. I can’t believe that this is what our good servicemen and women signed up for.
Trump to generals: "America is under invasion from within. We're under invasion from within. No different than a foreign enemy, but more difficult in any ways because they don't wear uniforms. At least when they're wearing a uniform you can take them out."
This is nuts! Groceries are too expensive, energy is too expensive, housing is too expensive, healthcare is already too expensive. No one can afford this. #TrumpShutdown
Hmmm …. What is the word you would use to describe intentionally submitting incorrect billing/coding in order to affect reimbursement? If a doctor did it, I’m pretty sure you’d call it FRAUD. @ama-assn.org

WHO statement on autism-related issues

The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that there is currently no conclusive scientific evidence confirming a possible link between #autism and use of acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol) during pregnancy

As a household that watches 20min of Frozen most days, this hurts. But as Anna says, “You must go on, and do the next right thing.” Protecting free speech is the right thing, and I hope #Disney musters the courage to act like the heroes they created.
This is appalling. Where is the humanity???

None of this is normal.

Institutions are shuttering venues of dissent. The judiciary is being turned into a mechanism to harass Trump's political opponents. The media is silencing critics.

And now the Senate is no longer going to do advice and consent.

None of this is normal.

The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

This is not a joke. This is not normal.

Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.

Changing the name of the Department of Defense will cost billions. We could build units for all unhoused veterans. Or give service members a pay raise so 35K active duty members wouldn’t have to rely on food stamps. Or… or… or…
These are truly careless people who have too much power.
Zuckerberg saying Meta intends to spend at least 600 billion in the US

The fact that you can have all of these organizations calling for Kennedy's resignation (or the NYTimes op-ed by 9 former CDC directors) and it having so little discernible impact is a sign of how far the US has moved from valuing scientific advice and expertise and how big a challenge it faces...
It felt like we were always scrambling to make life work & pay the bills, but small breaks and moments of joy made it doable. Examples: a dear friend picked up my kiddo from daycare 1 day a week so I could go for a run. Also dtr & I loved to go to a flower shop to pick 1 bloom each. 1 day at a time!
Hugs! I did it as a pulm/ccm fellow married to a neurosurg resident spouse. It’s really hard! But you’re not alone and it does get better

Elections of every level matter. Don't believe me, ask Texas, whose governor has allowed more people to die than any other in modern history by mismanaging money & supplies for Uvalde PD, mismanaged the Electric grid, and also failed to put sirens in flash flood alley while campers used it yearly.
I spent 2020 taking care of critically-ill COVID patients & was so grateful to receive the vaccine that felt like a miracle of science. The vaccine reduces the risk of transmission to vulnerable people & since then has saved millions of lives. What are we even doing now? apnews.com/article/vacc...
