We made an appt for a tow truck to move the trailer to a local campground on Monday. Driver called back 2 minutes later and offered to ferry us to the grocery store etc in the meantime. No charge. Probably the kindest thing that I can remember in a while. Total stranger. Nothing in it for him. 🧡

Someone just ran a red light and T-boned the truck. Lots of damage. Possibly totaled. Trailer is in a hotel parking lot, where we’re staying until Monday at least when it can get into a repair shop

About a half mile into our National Forest hike, we remembered that it was hunting season. Made double time getting back out of there. Fear + speed = cardio goal hit for the day

Pulled in next to another teardrop trailer yesterday and what’s the first thing she says to us? “I just ordered a Bean and I’m picking it up in May!” Loved giving her a peek around ours.

Just wrenched the bejeezes out my ankle. Not recommended. Watch those tiny steps, they’re tricksy.

Doing a long drive today which often means a restaurant breakfast. “Apologies, but everything is taking longer than normal because the kitchen is severely understaffed and we have no table clearing staff today.” Gee, I wonder why that could be.

First really touristy tourist thing we’ve done is a Kentucky Bourbon tour and tasting. Might be a little lighter in the head than usual. Waiting on the stomach to come. Worth it.

Walked to the bath house in deep fog. I’m glad today’s commuters will have an extra hour for it to burn off

Vredevoogd, Bosgraaf, Vander Molen, — we are officially back in the old stomping grounds. Thankfully we have some black licorice in the truck’s door pocket so we’re safe from the territorial locals

We have Mom and Carl’s ‘cottage’ all to ourselves for the next few days. All 60 acres of it. Sun is starting to peek out after yesterday’s rain.

History is such a huge topic, and some of the most interesting parts of it are in the small places we rarely ever hear about. Fayette Historic State Park is one of those places. We really loved visiting this place.

One of my favorite things about picking up books from Little Free Libraries is that they are rarely books I would have picked or bought for myself. I’m currently reading What an Owl Knows by Jennifer Ackerman, and it’s wonderful.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

The long battle is over for Jeff’s former colleague. Very glad we took the time for Jeff to say a last goodbye.
