ISTR a story about a PA-RISC HP9000 HP-UX system on an airplane, read still thought to be safely within the interface between hard vaccum and molten rock and O(1) on the size-of-datacenter scale
we'll always have netnews (even more foreboding)
Quote from the article: "Peter, who lives in Marin County, said that providing an emergency lane for accidents instead of a protected lane for cyclists like himself, during heavier commute times, makes sense." Uh, maybe it's the car-brained who need professional driver help to cross the bridge?
It's not just The Economist.

You could figure that out with not so much typing (this on FreeBSD)
I really ought to take another dig into this. I got into this with an S1500M which came bundled with Acrobat 8 Pro. The ScanSnap software could make its own PDFs and OCR the images to capture text and used a different OCR engine than Acrobat's.
PFU (now a part of Ricoh, was a part of Fujitsu) ScanSnap
I would prefer to live next to people who speak SPL/3000 and medical history of men in my family is such that I'm living in the bonus round
Having recently read Lucius Shepard's "Green Eyes" I wonder why they (especially this time of year) didn't run with the story that these are previously deceased monkeys injected with activated bacteria and thus brought back to life as zombies
No plan but ideas and a whole lot of hopium
if only because Republican members of the House are telling their constituents that it's the Democrats that have shut the government down
so many satisfied customers!
About 15 years ago, I found a gootube video that got me past putting a new starter motor in my car. But I'd rather read a book to learn most things. (I'm an old.)
please tell me that "tens of thousands in crypto" is denominated IN CRYPTO, not in USD, otherwise this is petty grift
also interesting that the domain(s) got yanked due to bad whois data, but some of the people involved are known, gotta do the pseudonym thing right
I (living a short walk from the Shockley Semiconductor building, then "Sound Goods") used to get calls from Folks Back East when the earth moved in LA-LA Land
It would be the right wing complaining about the affront in words usually reserved for tearing down grandma's bungalow and building a four-story apartment building (the East Wing is maybe 80 years old)
Also, manly men run Windows and don't use mv, they've heard you can destroy your whole hard disk with that (have had a Windows user tell me this about git)
never mind watching men retrieve folders, I want to see the cute young things they employ to put those folders where they can be found (and who organized them because manly men don't)
Understand these people grew up in a world where the US Civil War and World War 2 (Fascist theater) were thought to be settled problems and we didn't need a Captain America to fight a Red Skull, the very idea seemed the stuff of comic books.
many conversations I have had with complete normie libs, the kind who have a tote bag from donating to NPR and shop at Whole Foods, involve the kind of rhetoric that under no circumstances should be put on the internet

people are very mad
look i was recently talking to a septuagenarian life long dem (who shall remain nameless) and generic lib, and she was like “i just think there should be firing squads and they should sell tickets.”
Don't forget Palo Alto and Mountain View get some of that Hetch Hetchy water too
Do keep in mind UPS has been running a hostage scam where they accept the package, then demand customs charges and bullshit fees from the recipient in the US; this is probably part of the hostage scam bsky.app/profile/adam...
How bad are tariffs going?

I paid for $32 of shaving cream from Canada. Unique stuff I’ve used for years, nothing like it in US. Small family business.

UPS guy came to my door today with box and said I have to pay additional $120 before he can hand it to me.

That makes it 5x more expensive!!! 🤯
Been wading in that river lately and some of the chunks coming down are labelled "Patch". I wonder how the merger will be structured.
I particularly like how the first horrible result is "cars"
