I think the last year or so represents a permanent shift in IT jobs in Australia.

What initially looked like a downturn, now feels like an entire field permanently gone or devalued to the point a lot of us are going to have to reskill into different careers entirely.

One of the funniest outcomes of offshoring all our GIS work, is we just send 1mm grid maps of our infrastructure and defense sites to random pop-ups in India and South-East Asia on the regular now.

The difference is you're talking about California.

1M AUD is the median for the whole country. Meaning adjusted from average. Locations equiv to metro California are easily 2M+ AUD.

I work in a role that pays roughly 140K USD p/a in the US. In Australia I earn 80K AUD p/a.

We have other issues.

Our job market is one of the least diverse in the world. So if you move I hope you're a miner, tradie or an aged-care nurse.

Our housing crisis is the worst of all nations in the anglosphere currently. Median house prices are over 1M AUD.

And we're still too cozy with Trump.

In Australia the Centre-Left party won by such a margin the conservative coalition collapsed. And their approval rating has stayed high, even increased since then.

There was a racist rally that ended with infighting, their follow-up rally attendance dropped by 85% lol.

Yep, I've been banging on about this. Gun owners report their firearm stolen, police do nothing to follow up or investigate and ultimately the firearm is used in a crime.

There is no issue with registration and tracking. That is done by the states already.

Police in this country are not proactive.

Mark Doery testified that nothing about Thomas Sewell's conduct was offensive to him - this isn't that surprising. He recently attended the National Socialist Network's Nationals function in Ballan and marched with the group on August 31 at their March For Australia event.

'Nothing stood out as offensive'

During the final day of the hearing on Tuesday, the court heard from a member of the public who observed the rally on December 3, 2023.

Mark Doery was a witness presented by the defence.

"It just looked like a bunch of boys in a group, going for a walk," Mr Doery told the court.

"Nothing stood out as offensive to me, but that's just me."

Under cross-examination by Victoria Police prosecutor Shaun Ginsbourg, Mr Doery said he stopped on multiple occasions to observe the rally as it proceeded through Ballarat's city streets.
