I'm the author of A BAD DREAM WHERE YOU’RE BACK AT SCHOOL, a story that combines gut-wrenching horror, absurd comedy, and personal reflection on the alienation inherent to coming of age. It would mean a lot to me for you to read it. #Horror #BookSky #WriteSky

Remember always, dear reader, ICE and other such disgusting freaks are also absolute cowards. You display more courage than they ever have just by going to work every day.

Hey you know how our own government is astroturfing the internet to brew hate against Somali people so that the goons your taxes pay can lead pogroms against them? Yeah that might be bad.

song: HE IS TRAMPLING OUT THE VINTAGE WHERE THE GRAPES OF WRATH ARE STORED

me: no way this song can get more badass than this

song (immediately): HE HATH LOOSED THE FATEFUL LIGHTNING OF HIS TERRIBLE SWIFT SWORD

me: oh my
"As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free," goes harder than any Civil War song has any right to go.

Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice
My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.
The part that I can't figure out is what John Roberts thinks he is doing. He used to seem to be a judge who was very attentive to appearances, I think on a theory that you can't draw too much attention to yourself without undermining your ability to continue to shape the law.

Funniest chapter of BAD DREAM (in its author's opinion) now up on reddit. This is the one that has Incest Narnia.

i do know that my sense of social connection has diminished and my social networks have radically pruned during the pandemic and haven't really recovered. i know many people, from many different identity categories, who feel similarly.

i don't really think the "male loneliness epidemic" is primarily about romance, nor do i think that it's disconnected from loneliness affecting other groups. most of the discussion about this takes MRA logic and just inverts it.

Everyone: "please just take control of both the theatrical and home movie industries, we just want movies"

Netflix: "but we dont want total control over the film industry. We want you to have shows on in the background while you dick around on your phone"
please just buy a movie theater chain. they aren’t expensive.

Seeing a lot of conspiracy theories about trump getting shot last year lately, and basically no pushback to them. Did something happen? Is there new evidence or something?

There's a lot that's bad about the netflix wb thing but i do think that netflix owning the rights to dc is going to lead to pretty good korean batman show.

I heard that now they're placing people who criticize ICE under surveillance. I want it to be known to the entire world that I despise ICE to the core and I think their entire institution should be abolished. They are cruel, inhumane, and are examples of the worst of humanity

Fuck ICE Fuck Fascism.

BLAINE VS KANE: ROSEBLOOD
Rebranding all movies set between 1936 and 1945 as the Casablanca Cinematic Universe would be a good bit.
Netflix, which rarely carries a single movie from before 1980, wants you to know how thrilled they are to acquire that classic piece of franchise IP, Casablanca

What's interesting about this is that kibble shaped like lil bones is coded as "cheap" while regularly shaped kibble is somehow fancier somehow? Like there's some shame in feeding your dog bone-shaped food.
The key to understanding capitalism is that dog treats have shapes like "steak" even though that means nothing to the dog. The target audience isn't the dog, but the human, and the goal of the product is not to satisfy the dog, but to make the human feel like a good dog owner.

Nothing against smut, I read it myself sometimes, and people should absolutely read what they want to read, but the issue with the modern reading landscape isn't not enough smut, or not enough cozy fiction. The number of pretentious dudes shaming others for what they read is miniscule.

Stranger Things S5 is making me feel insane. Every other scene is like

Teen 1: Exposition exposition...
Teen 2: What are you saying exactly?
T1: Exposition exposition!
T2: But that doesn't make any sense!
T1: Exposition exposition-
T2 (interrupts): Wait- exposition-
Together: EXPOSITION EXPOSITION!

It's great, and EXACTLY my thing, but i found the ending of S1 to be way too directionless. At least pay off *something* before throwing a hundred new things at the wall.
I think The Chair Company is my favorite thing I've watched in the past 5 years.

yeah i guess i just think even in jobs where it’s useful, the part that makes it useful is probably the knowledge you have that surrounds it not the tool itself. it’s like majoring in “calculators” instead of math

The part where that conversation pivots--and everyone who's seen it knows exactly what moment that is--is the highlight of the movie for sure.
I saw Wake Up, Dead Man in the theater and friends, holy shit. It's the best of the three movies so far, and the comedy is sharp but it also has a ton of heart.

There's a moment where a conversation pivots in an unexpected direction and it hit hard. Rian Johnson is playing with live rounds.
