Do we really have no better option than shuffling into new Serfdom?

("Classic Serfdom", now available in potato diet)

I swear, this species is not very good at extrapolation. (Most of them think it's something to do with pegging)
If you take a cynical look over the last 35 years of US Domestic Policy, the erosion of a country that uses the word "freedom" like a nervous stutter, bears little resemblance of the brave new world, promised in its constitution.

We all know it's corrupt.

We all know it's B.S.
I was rather pleased with this.

Shame @ibloud.xyz was the only person (I think lol) to see it!
Well, if 2024 has shown us anything, there's an alternative to the Golden Parachute waiting at the end of a CEO's career.

Available in Metric and Imperial.
And the timing is just terrible. For the following reasons.

-Kids back to school with runny noses
-Remote workers being forced back into offices
-Wearing masks in public BANNED in some states
-Conspiracy Theorists who think it's all about who just got elected
-Who just got elected

The bird flu virus "is a serious threat and it has historically been a deadly virus," said Jennifer Nuzzo, director of the Pandemic Center at the Brown University School of Public Health. “This is just a tragic reminder of that.”

Guess that was another war LBJ didn't do so well in.

Next up Nixon's "War on Drugs" - still doing jack shit but stealing futures.

The War on Terror?

Not going so great.

War. What is it good for?
On Jan. 8, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson, in his State of the Union address, declared an “unconditional war on poverty in America.”

I ended up doing EFT from my PFI. The BT was an A1 deal, but dealing with this bunch has already exceeded my "are you forking kidding me" tolerances.

If enough people felt things were bad enough to elect Il Douchey, maybe we can cancel BOA in '25.

Find 3 friends who bank there, and get em out
You have to enroll in bill pay to pay your damn credit card bill?

#BoA #PoS

I should be grateful they're not demanding payment in dubloons or Trunnp EFTs.

Freedom of the Press - when they're not doing the behest of their Billionaire sponsors, owners and shareholders - once that goes, it's a speedy trip to the bad place.

I understand the hostility to journalists, when you never see any on OANN and NewsMax, it's hard to relate.

How to Be a Dictator: The Cult of Personality in the Twentieth Century article @theguardian.com

Did you sleep last night @renmakesmusic.bsky.social?
I was dreaming in living colour about your next remake. There were books everywhere filled with edits by false profits …

How to Be a Dictator by Frank Dikötter review – the cult of personality
Charisma, a lust for power, an absence of principles … what links Mao, Mussolini, Stalin, Hitler and other 20th-century dictators?

The amount of shifty underhanded shit that gets done in plain view is astonishing.

Just imagine what we DON'T know yet.

The Iranian Hostages were influential, but Democratic President Carter inherited a garbage economic situation from... surprise, surprise, a Republican President. (2 of 'em-gate)
This was NOT mentioned at all in the report on NBC4 DC last night. The reporter just said the hostage crisis was devastating to Jimmy Carter’s presidency. *Maybe* journalists didn’t know this then, but they certainly know it now and it should be noted every time it’s talked about. @nbcnews.com
Remember the right-wing plot to sabotage Jimmy Carter’s re-election by urging Iran to hold American hostages longer? You don’t? It’s a shocking example of the American right’s treachery that more people should know about. (Gift link to 2023 NYT story.)
AKA: "Can white people say the N-word out loud, yet without getting cancelled?"

No, numbskull, just like you can't say the C-word in front of your granny.

Now... can cyclists be more annoying than Crossfitting, Vegan Atheists to talk to?

Well, no more than a climate skeptic.

So, Britain: sort it out, you bunch of muppets.
The Cyclist hate in the UK is something else entirely.

FFS, Britain. Don't be a bunch of flippin' doughnuts.

Treat them like Tractors:
Yeah, getting behind them is inconvenient for a whole 2 minutes of your day as you are forced to decelerate from 35 to 25 mph.

The horror.
NEW: I interviewed Chris Boardman about his many careers, including his current role at Active Travel England. He told me that fact-free anti-cycling media stories are harming the UK's health, as they put off politicians from making brave but necessary decisions.

In the meantime, we might all benefit from sending an extra insurance payment next year, but into a Legal Defense Fund - just in case we have to defend those who protect us from these predators.
Expensive as in eating into their quarterly profits.

So - yeah - just easier to decline them. If they really need it, they'll make a fuss. Good thinking there, Sparky.

So, to all of those cursing the US Healthcare system even more than usual, my condolences.
It's that time of the year when caring, sensitive insurance companies - those who didn't want to "spoil" the holidays - send out decline notices for all those Pre-Authorized, Expensive medications that lets some of us do more than just merely SURVIVE each day.
Despite appearances, it wasn't a peasant interaction.
I'm a nasty suspicious type (Some might call me paranoid, if they weren't too busy trying to GET me)

That felt like:
1. Back to work, peasant
2. There are less troublesome peasants out there, peasant.
3. Don't even think about creating a fuss about it, or it'll get far, far worse for you, peasant.
The other day, NPR 930a News with Dwayne Brown. (If I recall correctly)

Story 1: Biden O/T Rule Tossed out by Judge Shopping Corp Interests.
Story 2: Story about scary immigration
Story 3: Story about "Domestic Terrorism" - I do not recall the story details
Happy Boxing Day.

When the revolution comes, can we make this a mandated holiday so that all the workers who had to get Xmas taken care of get this day off each year?

Right after National "Are you F----g Kidding me?" day.
