Time for Day 1 of my #AlbumoftheYear 2025 rundown. They’re not ranked at all, just 20 albums that have been enjoyed by me this year. Today’s choice is the wonderful @jetstreampony.bsky.social with Bowerbirds and Blue Things. Better than the debut? You know I think it might be.

Jangle all the way…
Made it to Warsaw.

Anyone on here use Substack? I’ve a few thoughts about how I could use that platform for bits of writing that are floating around in my head. Any thoughts or advice? (Even if it’s ’don’t bother’)

Hope everyone has had a great weekend

Nearly £80 for Squeeze in Blackpool? Crikey I’m giving that one a body swerve! That’s more than The Cure are charging.

Not that anyone cares, but I’ve made an error here. I’ve seen FDC more than either Pixies or DJ. Same is true of Ride (although I’m seeing Pixies again in 2026) so my list is inaccurate.
Introduce yourself with 5 gigs you’ve been to. (I’m going with the bands I’ve seen most…)

Nine Black Alps
The Cribs
Martial Arts
Pixies
Desperate Journalist

Nirvana
The Go-Betweens
Mega City Four
Toumani Diabaté

Blimey… does ‘fell into it’ work?

Sometimes life is serendipitous. Turned down a journalism degree as it felt too hard to get the grades to get on, so I took a path with less challenging entry requirements (then got the grades I needed for the first choice!). Never regretted it.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Thinking the height of Green will be key here. He’s a big unit.

One more over before I have to head out… can’t wait to retire and then just watch cricket, run and listen to music all morning.

5 more minutes of #TheAshes then it’s time to head out for the morning

Feeling Khawaja should have reviewed that. Not seen replays but was the hand off the bat?

If I could offer any advice to others who have yet to go out to de-ie cars, I’d go for ‘If you’re going to do this before getting dressed, put some socks on’.

100% this.

Getting towards #AlbumsoftheYear2025 time. I’ve a shortlist of about 30 now… anybody out there any recommendations for stuff I may have missed?

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

Awful human being.
Grifter.
Liar.
Racist.
I did lots of silly, regrettable things in my youth but I am damn sure I never sang Hitler youth songs or racially abused anyone. Nigel Farage was, is and always will be a racist piece of shit and he can deny it all he likes. He's shown us what he is.

Hmm… Buzzcocks 50th Anniversary tour. 4 miles from my home. So torn, are they still Buzzcocks without the wonderful Pete?

Just over 200-1 for the perfect football season. PNE promoted and 3 relegations that would make me laugh. Us going up is the longest odds on this. Could be worth a £2 lucky 15!
