“My tax dollars are paying for their steak!”

Yeah, well, my tax dollars are paying for ICE to threaten and abduct my neighbors. Steak sounds better.
Plus, SNAP benefits are generally so low that people just can't buy enough fresh produce or whatever the "healthy" food supposedly is. $80 worth of mac & cheese or cheap frozen pizza goes a lot farther for a month than $80 worth of lettuce, tomatoes, and apples.

Families of the missing in Syria were looking in the wrong place. Using drone footage, journalist @mcneill.bsky.social & @reuters.com team proved the Assad government ordered bodies trucked from a known mass grave & dumped in new secret trenches. A ghastly story: www.reuters.com/investigates...

It's so infuriating how many left and/or liberal people are drooling over this Nazi shit just because he's a white guy who cosplays being working class (despite his actual class background). The mythologization of the white male working class is toxic.
Did the Totenkopf tattoo also help him access higher education? Is there a scholarship for that?
I'm sure "make an appointment with a social worker to schedule a hearing to get permission to change formula brands" works perfectly. It's not like babies need to be fed more than once a month.
I get kind of mad every time I see someone claiming that testosterone will make your voice drop quickly and profoundly. My voice barely dropped at all. Most of the trans men I know don't have very deep voices.

It sets people up to feel bad about themselves if they're not one of the lucky few.

We have zero plans to put AI in LibreOffice, of course. Our focus is privacy and letting you control your data. Some users want AI features and they can get them via optional extensions made by the community – but we won't put it in the app itself.
I think if Marlowe had lived, he could have been as good as Shakespeare became (and fascinatingly different in attitude). Early Shakespeare can be clunky. And all Marlowe, sadly, is early Marlowe.
I'm a moderate on this. If he goes to therapy for five years to prove that he really is going to persist in being Ezra Klein and can't change, then maybe at the end we can grudgingly give him a little health care. Provided his therapist and a committee of doctors agree, of course

There are ten times as many home health aides in the US as there are miners
right. given the numbers, “how to win back the working class” should be as much about care and service workers as hard hats. and yet.

donating food to your local pantry is GREAT and helpful, but money is best imo because we work with vendors/places who are able to give us bulk food and better prices than the average grocery store. if you're debating between giving a pantry canned goods or $20? definitely $20
In a better world, every person with a secret Nazi tattoo would be given a bonus unhideable one, à la Inglourious Basterds.
And less than a day after posting this, you voted to allow another Trump judicial appointee to be approved. Care to explain why you're helping a would-be king consolidate power?

By a vote of 66-32, the #Senate invoked cloture on the nomination of Harold D. Mooty III to be US District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.

I think it's everywhere. I'm in a very liberal city in a liberal state, and the two car dealerships near me seem to ONLY sell SUVs and massive trucks.
The US doesn't have a mechanism for that, though. All that could happen here would be declaring him mentally unfit, which (a) would require cooperation from Republicans and (b) would lead to Acting President J D Vance.

this rocks. when indiana edu killed the student newspaper, Purdue stepped up, printed the forbidden issue, drove it to Bloomington and stocked the boxes.
Don't you have something better to do than hang around putting the worst possible interpretation on my words so you can display your moral superiority?
Buddy, I don't forgive him for anything. But he's such a minor criminal compared to the ones actually running the US right now that it's almost quaint.
He's got a Tom Ripley quality. (The Ripley of the novels, who starts out as a small-time con artist, rather than the more sympathetic movie version.) Selfish and callous and venal, yet kind of fabulous about it?

Much as I detest her, I kind of wish she'd followed up by asking Douthat how many times he'd been pregnant. (A cis dude patting himself on the back over the number of his children is so gross.)
I wondered the same thing. It turns out the Tennessee Holler post isn't a reblog, it's a screenshot. (The video still plays, I don't know how.)

I scrolled back through their account for a couple of days and found they do a lot of that.
