Renewing my love for CSS and all things web dev!
After watching @kevinpowell.co's video on font stacks that will improve your site performance, I've just switched the font on an important landing page to system-ui. I feel very awesome and the page looks okay! Here's the video I referenced:

Emmet does this:
div.wrapper
--- becomes ---
<div class="wrapper"></div>

I wish it also did this:
<div class="wrapper"></div><!--wrapper-->

CSS is fun because you can make private jokes in style names.

In a testimonials section, I'm styling the name of the person who gave the testimonial as "witness". No one will see the joke unless they view the source!

A reminder to everyone who is starting a learning path! It's not about plowing through the lessons. It's about consistency.

I'm taking my time on @kevinpowell.co's first "mini challenge" in his Demystifying CSS course.

I feel like I don't want AI to write my CSS for me. I want AI to do my yardwork so I can write my own CSS. Come on, Zorgon, we've got some leaf bags to fill!

Just now I launched my remixed "Friday Goody Bag" website! fridaygoodybag.com

This was a slightly old project I recreated using Astro and much of what I've learned (so far) from @kevinpowell.co. BIG THANKS!

Now on to the turkey...

Big news! (I'm new on Bluesky, so not too many people will see this, but here goes anyway.)
@kevinpowell.co is generously offering his first-ever Black Friday sale! I'll be continuing to fall deeply in love with CSS. Let's make our corners of the Internet just a little bit more AWESOME!

So I'm jumping on the Black Friday train for the first time.

Starting tomorrow, I'm offering 40% off both CSS Demystified and Beyond CSS.

Going to have an extra little sweetener in there too. More details coming once it goes live 😊

Thanks to @kevinpowell.co I now pronounce "Claude" as "Clode" instead of "Clawed".

What's to stop a LLM from being overly verbose and asking me for too much information - in order to make me use up my usage limits faster and want to subscribe to a higher level account? I'm sure others have written about this but I just thought of it right now while having Claude help me...

I have taken to typing messages to Microsoft's Copilot saying I resent it for being in front of the apps I'm trying to access. Today it offered to write me a Python script to find what I was looking for. I don't need a Python script, I just need it to get out of the way!

"EML" is email you write yourself (without AI)

Ever had a phone conversation with a little kid? "OK, you hang up first." "No, you hang up first." And you're saying "bye" for 15 minutes.

That's what it sometimes feels like when chatting with an AI. You can never get the last word!

As I was resizing PowerPoint tables (I know, please send chocolate) it occurs to me that how PowerPoint resizes columns is sort of opaque. I wonder if it uses a similar formula to how browsers calculate flex column widths.... okay, back to the day job....

I know all's fair in love and on Google SERPs, but . . . when my inner Curious George decided to peek at Sora, the sponsored results that appear in front of OpenAI's Sora appear not to be Sora. Would love comments from smart people.

Just finished learning how to build my first Astro blog! Still not completely confident, but planning to rebuild and relaunch my website in Astro. Thanks @kevinpowell.co for all the inspiration.

Web dev renewbie* here, wondering if it's a coincidence that "glob" is an anagram for "blog"....

*did front-end web dev when dinosaurs walked the earth, learning how to do it nowadays

I asked Claude today to "tell me in Javascript, why ...." I was asking a question about Javascript, and Claude answered. But he answered me in English. This is the difference between an LLM and something that could think logically. :)

I haven't used !important once since I started learning CSS from @kevinpowell.co's courses and videos. Fortunately it hasn't affected my self-esteem. :)

The way I use AI doesn't always require an "intelligent" response. It would be awesome if you could push "Shift + Enter" to post a note to the chat without triggering the AI to "think up" a response. You could set the AI's "non-AI" reply to (e.g.) "So noted"... @claudeai.bsky.social
