If you want or need SNAP benefits, literally the only barrier should be...signing up.

"But what about fraud?" My sibling in red, white, and blue, THE PENTAGON HASN'T PASSED AN AUDIT IN YEARS AND MONEY IS FAKE. I don't care if too many people have food assistance.

If it’s run for profit, then it’s profiting off of … us.

When I hear that the post office lost money, I think this: Good. We already paid for it. Why on earth should it make even more money from us? Who would keep the money? Would we see it?
I don't want to start a thing so I'll just say that there will never be a good argument for privatizing USPS. That would be like privatizing libraries. The aim of services isn't to be run for profit, they are for serving the greater good, which USPS has been extremely successful at.

Not only is our new acting director of the CDC NOT a scientist, but he also has deep ties to Peter Thiel and Silicon Valley’s techno-utopia movement.

One epidemiologist compared Jim O’Neill’s appointment to “making Elon Musk head of the FAA.”

i think this is good to cite because whether you think it’s merely the aesthetics of fascism or actual fascism; whether you stay or flee; whether you’re scared, or angry, or sad; your duties to one another are the same. we all owe ourselves and our community to reject and resist this every step
There's a point Arendt makes in Personal Responsibility Under Dictatorship that people who convince themselves to cooperate with the regime in pursuit of "the lesser evil" end up conditioning themselves to accept evil, which the regime then ratchets up. A similar story with the press here.
if you wind back the clock a year and say “trump will be president, he’ll tear up entire agencies without any legislative authority, ignore court orders, build a concentration camp, and send troops into multiple US cities” you wouldn’t ask “well how many troops?” before deciding what this describes

UPDATE: Governor Cook has issued a statement.

“President Trump purported to fire me ‘for cause’ when no cause exists under the law, and he has no authority to do so. I will not resign. I will continue to carry out my duties to help the American economy as I have been doing since 2022.”

Been telling people for years that leftist policies are extremely popular when they're worded honestly.
It's why liberals and the right try to say that the left is too focused on "wokeness" because they're scared of wealth redistribution

Federal agents blasted their way into an LA home where Jenny Ramirez lives with her boyfriend and two kids.

She heard the blast while checking on her 6-year-old, with her 1-year-old in her arms.

Ramirez says everyone in the home is a U.S. citizen.

Today’s unsigned, unexplained #SCOTUS ruling clearing the way for removals of migrants to third countries without any additional process is a disaster—not just on the merits, but because of the government misbehavior that it not only refuses to punish, but effectively rewards.

Me, via “One First”:
161. The Court's Disastrous Ruling in the Third-Country Removal Case
The majority did not just greenlight an especially odious immigration policy without any explanation; it did so in a case in which the government defied the district court—twice—with no consequence.

This is one of the stranger forms of American exceptionalism, that the United States isn't the one proactively doing/supporting all these awful things. This includes the constant sentiment that we're being "dragged" into war, as if the United States could be dragged into anything.
Israel isn't in control of the United States. This is just who the US is and has always been.

Saying we're controlled is just a way of saying we're victims. We're not. We're an imperial power that likes war because it's profitable and enriches our oligarchs.

That's it.
