Hello! 👋 We are the George Eastman Museum. Founded in 1947 as an independent nonprofit in Rochester, New York on the estate of George Eastman, the pioneer of popular photography and motion picture film, we are the world’s oldest photography museum and one of the oldest film archives.

Be among the first to explore this exhibition that follows émigrés and exiles from Hungary to Berlin and Paris, and then on to New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, where they reinvented themselves and American photography.
The evening includes light refreshments, opening remarks, a book signing with Alex Nyerges, director and CEO of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and curator of the exhibition, and more.
You’re invited to the opening celebration of "American, born Hungary: Kertész, Capa, and the Hungarian American Photographic Legacy" at the George Eastman Museum— Thursday, September 25, 6 p.m. ✨
