check out my friend’s latest flash fiction in IFP—it’s a good one!
Please enjoy our last flash fiction of 2024: "To the Resident of Temporal Pocket X0001-A"
by E. S. Hovgaard, a stunning time-loop story about empathy and loneliness.

the scariest thing isn’t the monster under the bed—it’s the bed asking you if you’d like to be tucked in tighter

is anyone else's handle showing up as invalid handle? so bizarre considering it's just the default handle I've had since the start.

i feel like libraries aren’t *supposed* to be the front line for so many things unrelated to providing much-needed public services, but here we seem to be again. i’m glad the people who work for them kick so much ass.

I should mention here that Countess, my novella, is available on netgalley, if NetGalley is your jam.
It's queer, extremely anti colonial, Caribbean and set in space. Inspired by the Count of Monte Cristo BUT you know I'm a goth and I don't stick to formulas 😉. If that's your jam, enjoy. 🖤

I'm incredibly emotional about my debut collection TURDUCKEN being named Bravest, Newest, Weirdest by an amazing press that I admire so much—thank you, Tenebrous!!

I'm proud of this misshapen baby bird, and if you wanted to check it out, I would be incredible grateful.

i wish there was a way to know which magazines start using storywise AI to “grade” their slush pile so i can just skip that nonesense.

will be funny once someone figures out how to game the AI though, like add a sentence to your story that activates the AI like a sleeper cell to give you all “A”s.

The best writing advice I ever received was to read widely. Everything, all the time. Not just within your genre. Classics. Westerns. Directions. Street signs. Pie labels. Gravestones. Tea leaves. Between the lines. The riot act. The room. The only surefire way to improve your craft.
