Still, I've seen over-boiled pasta with more grit than Robert Barron.
Two bishops with ties to Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission, including Bishop Robert Barron, criticized the administration’s treatment of Catholics detained by immigration officials this week. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/06/u...

As first lady, Michelle Obama quickly learned that no element of her appearance was going to be more politicized than her hair. In her new book, "The Look," she unpacks the complexities of dressing and hairstyling during her eight years at the height of American politics. nyti.ms/4oWpb5C

Great piece. “Patron saint of the third string” belongs on a plaque; I nearly stood when I read it.
Trump’s voters have become like the members of the administration, delighting in the crassness and obscenity that pours out of the president and his circle whenever they are challenged. But policies suffer and the public is poorly served.

TRUMP: Are you ready? I don't know who he is

O'DONNELL: His crypto exchange Binance helped facilitate a $2b purchase of World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. And they you pardoned him.

With the distinction that Joffrey actually spoke English.
If Joffrey Baratheon grew up to be an American president, this is pretty much what it would look like.

Debating fascism vs not-yet is like asking if the chainsaw guy is vegan or vegetarian.
Freer than Greece under the junta, freer than China right now, freer than most countries in the world. Important not to lose sight of that.
A reasonable distinction. We're a country sliding into competitive authoritarianism, but as long as we're still freer than Greece was under the junta - and we are still freer than that - I'm with Tom Nichols on _Trump_, not (yet) the country as a whole, being fascist.

In the future, historians will refer to our day and age as “The Dumb Ages”, and the philosophy that came out as “Moropragmatism” (Gk. mōros “foolish” + pragmatikos “concerned with action”)
Truth and moral worth are whatever most effectively serve one’s preferred ignorance and immediate advantage.

Playing “Fascism or not” has the same vibes as arguing if the train coming to run you over is diesel or electric. What people should be arguing about is how to get off the tracks.
Trump is a fascist threat; I've said it many times. I merely refuse to join many of you in your fever-dream that the United States is now a fascist regime when it's not even a Hungarian or Turkish regime. I want people to be sober-minded and determined, not hysterical and ineffective.
