4pm. Decided to go birding around the periphery of Sainsbury's car park whilst my wife went shopping. Result, cracking views of a Firecrest with a Long-tailed Tit flock and at least one Cetti's Warbler.

A breezy bike ride to Studland involved wet feet from cycling through a flooded ford - but it was ultimately successful with a 1st winter drake Velvet Scoter, 3 Great Northern Diver and a Slavonian Grebe (not pictured) all seen @harbourbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social

With the floods brings the Godwits , over 1000 birds using Stanpit Marsh as a safe haven today, although the local Marsh Harriers were eying them up! @chogbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social @btoengland.bsky.social

LS detected at >60% of sites in southern England, most of which had no recent records. Drums/calls very few over thousands of hours. Birders' chances of an encounter clearly very low!
