🧵 Hey, all. I'm going to be doing some test runs of both campaigns I'm running for startplaying.games .
October 6, 2025 at 6:26 PM
Well, that's two campaigns launched on startplaying.games .

🧵 So, I've been sans job for about three months now, and that sucks. So, while continue to try to find one, I have decided to try something I hadn't considered to supplement my income: being a paid game master on @startplaying.bsky.social .

Almost certain the answer is "write something new", but it never hurts to ask. Unless it does, I guess.
August 25, 2025 at 5:36 PM
Just writing this post makes what I'm asking sound absurd. I'm probably up a creek and have to write something else. I would just like some income since I don't currently have any, and I was hoping this was going to be a source (albeit a little one).

Published author friends: I know generally publishers don't touch books that have already been self-published. What about books that have been, but only sold a handful of copies?

I mean, it got good reviews from the people that read it. Even people I don't know!

Again, I ask: If you've got any leads on jobs, particularly remote and/or in IT, please let me know. Thank you to everybody who's been kind enough to send me leads.

This began a weird little game with HR that ended with me getting let go with pay for two months.

Today starts my official unemployment, and I just found out I can't work there again for 6 months. As they're the biggest employer around here, this, well, sucks.
August 22, 2025 at 6:45 PM
As you may have heard, I was let go from my job a couple months ago. I didn't talk much about the circumstances, but my manager (not Josh Dalcher, who was always the best) gave me a good rating and then decided I didn't know Java all within the span of a month.
August 22, 2025 at 6:44 PM
I need to get employed again before I lose my mind @_@
August 12, 2025 at 3:47 AM
The good news is I just need to take some practice exams to make sure I stuffed everything in my brain properly and then I can go get advanced certified, which certainly isn't going to hurt my resume any. But that costs multiple hundreds of dollars so I better be sure first.
August 12, 2025 at 3:47 AM
Not sure what it means when you're taking enough online courses for certifications that you accidentally take the advanced course first and then you take the beginner stuff and for two days you're like "this seems sorta familiar".

it is a very good day to realize you have an overabundance of red and yellow filament. probably some blue too if I can remember what I did with it...

Superman easily the best Superman movie I've ever seen. Corenswet was great as a new-ish Superman, though Christopher Reeve is Superman in my head since I was a kid (just like Roger Moore is James Bond). Honestly never thought I'd see one better than the Donner cut of Superman II.

I've done everything from development to managing the federation servers (authentication/SSO) for a Fortune 100 company to networking. I'm not worried I'll be able to do anything provided I've got time to train.

Really was not hoping to revisit the job market again anytime soon, but such is life.
June 20, 2025 at 2:36 PM
So, I just got let go from my job. Not a fun surprise on a Friday.

If anybody has any openings where they work for IT-related stuff (or anything else you think I might be a good fit for), please let me know.

Honestly, and this is not a serious answer to @gailsimone.bsky.social 's question:

This just made me think about an X-Men series where they're all Godzilla-sized, and how this affects how they deal with the world around them.

(At least, until stupid Reed Richards invents a shrink-ray.)
I have a serious question for an article I am writing.

It's about this particular issue of this particular book.

If you were around to buy this when it came out, or if it affected you in some way later, I would love to hear your SHORT thoughts on it.

It's that time of year once again.

I bet I get zero items on this list. We'll see. 🙃

Does anybody know of a good country/western sourcebook for Vampire: The Masquerade? In my gaming group tonight we were talking about a scenario involving the Oak Ridge Boys being Toreadors and I NEED THIS TO HAPPEN IN MY LIFE.

Absolutely shitty D&D session tonight.

I cannot understand how I made a sewer and poop monsters for them to fight and I'm the one terrified of what they did with them.

Sam will tell his grandchildren of what happened tonight.

I'm going to ask a question of you in the board game industry, and it's probably one you've already thought about:

Your game rules will still work even if the pieces aren't physical. Most people have smartphones or tablets.

Printed a wither storm from Minecraft for Sam.

I hope the glue holds. This was a weird one. 🙂

I got my MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine today, because I was born before 1989 and I don't want the measles.

THESE ARE NOT THINGS I SHOULD HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IN THIS DAY AND AGE

I guess I should be happy Meta's AI didn't steal my book like so many other people in my feed.

On the other hand, even an AI either can't find it or decided not to bother with it. 🙃
