Something I think about sometimes is how a long time ago carpet was expensive, and wall to wall carpet was a sign of wealth.

Then it got cheap and boomers slapped it down over all the old beautiful hardwood floors.

It reminds me of those videos where there is a super happy dog, and as soon as you put it on the other side of a fence it starts barking at whatever is in the other side. There isn’t any logic to it. Just a me first instinct.

-moving won't matter; based on 2025 residency
-billionaires earn 7.5%/yr, they'd still come out ahead

California is readying a one-time 5% tax on billionaires for the 2026 ballot that would go toward compensating for Trump's Medicaid cuts. The architects see it as a national model.

We have money for a $20b bailout of Argentina, but the acting director of SNAP has just announced that SNAP benefits will be cut off on November 1.
