trying to declutter as I prepare to move out and it is SO HARD to let go of clothes that are still perfectly fine but don't fit anymore because it's basically impossible to replace them with an equivalent new item. Who even makes cotton skirts in fun prints anymore!!!

actually I am a bit angry about this, imagine how many sick pornographies I could have written if I'd gotten the right support at literally any point in time before this week

reporting from the front lines (of the english section of the bookshop): hockey romance is losing steam* but there were TWO F1 romance novels and one of them was even gay°
*pun intended °obviously I bought it. for scientific purposes.

Studying romance novels is so fun, you just have to dig through several decades of horrendous misogyny under the mantel of "feminist psychoanalysis" and try not to tear your hair out (this specific time it is indeed Radway)
Reading decades-old feminist criticism of romance readers and just saw a woman starting a newsletter to send out book recommendations described as “an authoritarian act” so I think that’s enough research for today.

been really enjoying Focus Friend and I think it's because it doesn't try to "gamify productivity" really, it just asks me not to use my phone for a bit. I can do that. And I don't have to set any other goals or "reflect" or whatever, I can just set a timer and not use my phone and that's it

I am so for real when I say this: a significant portion of avid readers do not know how to tell if a book is good. They don't know how to go beyond the content level and if you tell them "but it's badly written/constructed" they think you're a weirdo
i am a horribly picky and judgemental reader, it's not enough if the characters are gay the book also has to be good, im sorry
