A was recently laid off from a job in game development. I guess I'm sort of burnt out by tech so I've been trying to work on more tactile things. My most recent project is this metal hand that I made in welding class.
It is constructed from 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch square steel rod and welded together

There should be a new term for the creepy weird look and feel of AI generated content. It's like Uncanny Valley but different.

I was doing some light electronics research using chatGPT. We were using water pumps/pipes as a metaphor for audio amplifiers and speakers. It was going really well until ChatGPT volunteered to sketch a diagram and this is what it sent me LOLOL! Yeah, that sure clears things up 😭

I recently received pcbs that I designed. This is a first for me. So I was super happy when I populated the board with components and everything just worked. My steam deck rumble motor mod pcb is a success!

I ordered my first printed circuit boards of an original design today. Big milestone in my electronics tinkering journey. I'd never known much more than breadboard to perfboard prototypes. Now I'm doing schematics and pcb layout. So much to learn still! I hope they work ;)

I ordered zener diodes the other day so I can regulate voltage in a circuit I'm designing ETA Saturday. Today I got really impatient so I ordered another set of diodes from amazon using points on my credit card so it's technically free and just so I can have them by tomorrow morning, Friday XD

I've been designing a circuit to boost game rumble on the steam deck by driving an external motor running off an external battery all enclosed inside a custom backplate. It has been a fun challenging experience so far. Here's a rendering of a pcb and a photo of the prototype

I'm excited that the mosfets I ordered from digikey arrive today 🤓 I'm using them to drive rumble motors to boost the game rumble on the steamdeck. I have it working with a BJT but MOSFETs will be more efficient 🤘

Transistors are funny because they all look similar but there are multiple types, each leg can be named differently, and the pinouts are all different. But they are everywhere
