Every journalist of color I know would be punished or fired for being repeatedly late on deadline and filing "provocative" expense reports. We are also constantly concerned about layoffs or had direct experience with them. I hate this.
The breathtaking, audacious confidence of this passage…

You’re telling me you came up in political journalism of the 2010s and 20s and *never once* worried about job security? Really???

That’s… diagnosable.

In South Minneapolis, Minnesota, nearly two dozen neighbors confronted and surrounded ICE goons after rapid-response alerts were issued. The goons were questioning an East African man when the situation escalated, and they eventually left the area without making any arrests.

Hi! It's a bleak time for news, especially LGBTQ+ news. As a reporter, I'm able to cover the issues impacting LGBTQ+ people full-time because I work at The 19th.

With just $5 or $10, you can help keep us going. Donate here and support independent media — and a newsroom that actually puts you first.

The Trump admin has paused all immigration and naturalization processes for people from one of the 19 travel ban countries; including Cuba and Venezuela.

Even people who fully passed the citizenship exam are having their cases put on hold, just inches from the finish line.
Scoop: The Trump administration has paused all immigration applications filed by people from 19 countries banned from travel to the United States earlier this year, halting green card and U.S. citizenship processing for broad swaths of people.

More coming soon.

this student was aspiring to the right wing grievance payroll and forum shopped their way into this scenario. anything short of an A+ would result in the exact same outcome. even an A+ would have caused a weird tantrum like when bari weiss couldn't even get fired and went Victim of Woke Mode anyways
people who are taking issue with how the instructor handled this student’s (imo unacceptable) submission are missing the point entirely. revise and resubmit? give a low nonzero grade? why think any of *those* responses wouldn’t have sent the libsoftiktok machine in motion too?
having assigned reaction papers in many of my classes i look at this student’s essay and cannot glean what the content of the original assigned reading was, nor do i see how a reference to the Genesis creation story illuminates the argument of that assigned reading. I would have rejected this paper.

A 15-year-old autistic boy walked away from his mother's fruit stand. When she called police for help, they found him, called ICE, and locked him away for weeks.

Unconscionable.
Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with intellectual disabilities, wandered away from his mom’s fruit stand in October.

She reported him missing to Houston police. But instead of reuniting them, the city turned him over to ICE.

“They’re failing all of us,” his mom said.

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

While there’s no evidence to support the statistic, experts do worry that it creates a self-fulfilling prophecy for Black trans women.
