Due to the combination of a baby and a filthy immigrant American wife we are now in the manual exit check for Schiphol.

Holy crap, you people live like this?

You laugh but "if we don't know what we are doing, the enemy sure as hell doesn't," is tried and true.
This clip, it haunts me. How long must this pain go on.

Any municipality here in the Netherlands, including Amsterdam and Utrecht, would consider Brooklyn to be extremenneed for more highway capacity.

The BQE and Belt would be expanded and buried. Linden and Ocean would likely also become a buried highways.

Let it crumble would be a crazy thought.
The BQE triple cantilever opened in 1954 and was designed to last 50 years. The risks go up as it continues to deteriorate. City officials and transportation engineers say imminent collapse is not a threat, but other catastrophes could still strike, like concrete falling off and hitting vehicles.

The annoying part of having a former fire alarm life is seeing all these ambulance chasing whores come out after any tragedy insisting the REAL tragedy is these buildings did not have multi-million $ systems installed.

When the obvious solution is... Don't wrap buildings in flammable materials

When you are doing skull crushers and straining so hard you fart.

But you are wearing headphones and have no idea how loud it was.

So here is the weird thing in the Netherlands.

We have 0 parking protected bikes lanes.

We have tons of gutter paint lanes.

We do not have a double parking problem.

I suspect it is because we expect law enforcement to enforce laws.

And don't have areas that are short on parking.

Another day in Dutch media (that I listen to) where more media coverage is dedicated to the American government, DOGE dissolution, compared to the formation of our own government.

Live reenactment.

(Housing is homothetic, and the % of income people spend on housing is ~roughly constant across incomes. Housing issues are reflected in quality disparities (ie, making kids share a room), not percent of income rising/falling.

But it is pretty cool that I am about 40, 2m, 100kg, and can do a decent set of pull ups.

But God do I hate pull ups.

As construction financing does not really exist here, the prepaid unit owners have to pay.

It is funny watching both NYers and Europeans, who have no contextual relationship with cultural and political values in America but outside of urban areas, think that the content that resonates in NYC is particularly transferable.
