We need an urgent rethink to prevent more unnecessary deaths, severe illness, chronic illness, more pressure in healthcare, on education and on all sectors of the economy and society!

This year, not even ppl at particularly high clinical risk due to heart disease, diabetes, serious respiratory illness, pregnancy, etc. can get a Covid vaccine (other than by paying nearly £100 for a private one). Nor can healthcare and care workers, family carers, etc....

Healthcare, incl. vaccination, is devolved in Scotland. The Scottish Government is following Westminster decisions based on highly problematic advice from an advisory body (JCVI) even though they don't have to - and without explaining their reasons.

ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.
There's a huge BUT coming ...🧵

Research could offer hope for ME patients – but some experts urge caution and say more studies needed

The (ongoing) adverse impact of SARS CoV 2 on our children is a scandal, particularly when so much could now be done to prevent it. Big week for @cvcev.bsky.social & @longcovidkids.bsky.social at the UK Covid Inquiry. Wishing you the best of luck in forcing those responsible to be held to account 🍀

With millions of people in the UK suffering from Long Covid and organ damage linked to Covid, a fall in healthy life expectancy is sadly the result. Not saying that Covid is responsible for 100% of this, but it is undoubtedly a major factor.

If you thought you'd heard it all where it concerns explanations for increased demand for healthcare 'post-Covid' without mentioning the health impacts of ongoing Covid, I refer you to Cabinet Sec Neil Gray's response to the Citizen Participation & Petitions Committee yesterday 😕

Now that's a novel twist. Hands up how many of you have recently been to the doctors and asked them questions because you 'became more aware of yourselves' during lockdowns 5 years ago.... 🤔

1. As someone at high clinical risk interacting online daily with others locally & globally whose lives are similarly restricted due to unsafe indoor air, I couldn't be more honoured & excited to be part of this landmark initiative to make healthy indoor air a priority for every country & community

Hugely proud that our Founder & Director Dr Sally Witcher is be part of this incredible initiative. Keen to know what your priorities would be for action on healthy indoor air. There's a long way to go to get even health, social care & education settings to take this seriously here in Scotland & UK.

4/4 Even though indoor air can be 3-5 times more polluted than outdoor air & we spend around 90% of our time indoors, we have much work to do to get @scottishgov.bsky.social and @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social to take healthy indoor air seriously even in healthcare. Please help to change this 🙏

Our 'benefits' group was thrilled to have an amazing opportunity recently to talk to Social Security Scotland staff (devolved benefits delivery body) about the reality of Long Covid, ME/CFS, vax injury, high clinical risk, & the need for inclusive assessment & delivery processes. Thanks so much! 🙏
