Kaliska is often called 'Liska for short, started by 'Yda' in arr, but Thancred started calling him Kitten around the same time to tease him and Kaliska decided only Thancred gets to call him that lolol

If there was any headcanon that I was proud of, it's this one.
Due to exposure to Ceruleum over time, a number of the Garlean population are born shorter. They also may have other traits such as unusual colored hair or even red eyes. That's why we have Elezen sized Garleans and Hyur sized Garleans. There's a not insignificant amount of them.
