I love how #Ys VIII uses Carlan. His presence perfectly ties together two themes that are rarely explicitly stated but are bubbling under the surface throughout the game: the power of collective action and the folly of hierarchy.

God, there's so much good claustrophobic horror aesthetic in 9. Way more than any other game in the series.

Except maybe the abandoned mine in Oath! The music is creepy and unsettling in the Wanderers version but boy did Oath do a lot to enhance the atmosphere of it. 🫣

As someone who grew up and went to school in the Eau Claire area when the playoff drought ended, I can say with a fair amount of authority that the baseball fans there root for the Twins when the Brewers are bad, and instantly hop on the Brewers bandwagon when they're good.
