But Substack's network bro, I need the network effect bro. This is from like one week two years after I stopped even using it. I could repeat this many many more times but I ran out of room. Or maybe I'm just extremely popular in Vietnam (?)

@bakarisellers.bsky.social I'm sorry you had to deal with this but responding to her had to be some of the easiest money made in a bit. 🤣

Why is she even on this show and why is she being asked about this? She was a low-level DHS press flack in Trump 1.0 and reportedly worked with Elon Musk for a few months in 2.0 and now runs a podcast.

Sure, the government has a right to its own opinion, unencumbered by the First Amendment. It can spin what’s “the truth” however it wants.

But selectively attacking news organizations and possibly inciting imminent lawless action against individual reporters is a whole ‘nother level of deplorable.

I seem to remember Fox News and MAGA going apoplectic over Joe Biden’s so-called “ministry of truth” against misinformation.

And yet, now we have a “media bias” monitor that is going after news and opinion the White House doesn’t like, singling out reporters by name: www.whitehouse.gov/mediabias/

You can reliably hang most every bad thing we have going to Reagan but every bad thing in the specific way they are bad today is, you guessed it, the War on Terror.
Jon Stewart on the Daily Show into getting folded into the fully realized 24 hour news cycle of the 90s is when I'd date it. Getting news from comedians becoming mainstream shifts comedians from gadflies to newsmakers. That made a lot more comedians take on the "cultural critic" role.

The U.S. poverty line for a family of four is $32,150.

However, investor Michael W. Green argues it should be more than four times higher, a threshold that would classify most American households as living “in poverty” by his measure.
An investor called $140,000 the new poverty line. Experts disagreed but said he had a point.
Michael Green’s tally of the costs of raising a family in the U.S. today is going viral, even if some economists scoff at his math.

/To be clear, I don’t think it should be a federal crime. But it is.

For those who don’t know, Jack served in the Bush administration but resigned in protest of the extra constitutional claims made by the administration. He’s no left wing radical, but he care about the Constitution.

He has forgotten more about executive power than I could ever hope to learn.

This seems like the kind of declaration by a U.S. president that should be mentioned *somewhere* on the front page of CNN or the NY Times, but the fact that it isn't (as of right now) tells us so much both about how this president is covered and the credibility of the U.S. government.
Might be kicking off.
