It’s amazing to see that Palo Alto is as car brained as any other American city. They finally discovered Bicycle Boulevards 50 years after my home town in Iowa did.

But they rejected protected lanes that go where people want to go.

I have some really good news and in keeping with vibes, will share it here, and not there:

A few months ago I noticed how New York City has been positively conquered by bicycles. It's true, and it's amazing. More work to do, but the tides have turned.

The good news: It is happening in Berkeley!!

Does anybody else think the fire department is out of control? Is an unreasonable obsession with safety more important than quality of life?

Thank you @cecilialunaparra.bsky.social for pushing back.

I coauthored an opinion in Berkeleyside today, focusing on how the 26foot street clearance the Fire Department requires is being interpreted in ways that harm the city.
