It was a monochromatic morning over Lincoln Park as a fresh blanket of snow created a still, snowglobe-like scene.

At 17.1” of snow so far, Chicago has nearly exceeded the 17.6” that fell during the entire 2024-2025 season! Bonkers. If you like winter, we’re off to a good one.

Ran into this guy. He was pretty stiff. Finn scares some folks when he gets too close.

I don’t blame them. He’s shifty.

Better check your wallet, Jack.

I came across *the* example I have been hammering with these food delivery robots.

A man with a mobility aid is forced to step aside because there is not room for him because the robot will not make room for a person (esp. those with a mobility aid who need addditional room)

The Blenheim Estate lost an oak, and as they like their fallen trees to remain in place to encourage wildlife, they asked artist Matthew Crabb to do his magic

This is why I live in Chicago. I want four distinct seasons with weather. If you don’t like snow, there are so many other places you can live in the US. I never understood the complainers.

UPDATE: Another Chicago-area church has put up an immigration-themed Nativity scene.

A church member at Urban Village Church sent this one along, where Mary, Joseph and Jesus are gone and replaced with a sign that reads: “Due to ICE activity in our community, the Holy Family is in hiding.”
