a real tell in all of this is that the trans instructor wasn't alone in trashing this essay! a whole other person also said they agreed completely that it sucked. but as far as i can tell only the trans person is getting punished. www.oklahoman.com/story/news/e...

All of this goes back to the fact that people don't understand the limits of the COVID vaccines. They don't understand what the COVID vaccines do and don't do. They don't understand the way the COVID virus is mutating around vaccine protection. “So like, I've seen people saying like, oh, well, if you wear a mask, that means you don't trust the vaccine. Well, no, I mean, you're harming the vaccine by not masking because you're allowing the vaccine, which is supposed to be a last line of defense against the virus, to be a first line of defense against the virus.”

The Impact of AIDS on the Artistic Community is that a 36-year-old writer takes time out at a memorial service for the world's pre-eminent makeup artist and a man worth any number of interesting new painters to get angry because the makeup artist's best friend and eulogist uses a story that she has for years been hoarding for her book which she can't write anymore anyway unless she writes it as a historical novel because it's about a world that in the last few years has disappeared almost entirely.

one of the problems I have with Democrats (and other critics) labeling these "war crimes" is that it accepts the underlying claim that the people being murdered are enemy combatants. They're not! it's just murder!

This is very good. I like to remind people that headlines in the 80s would (regularly!) talk about people who drank lattes or ate sushi as exotic, self-indulgent yuppies with obscure tastes. Media constantly made fun of “haute cuisine” meals with tiny portions because fine dining was bad.

When the two-part miniseries Anne of Green Gables debuted on CBC on Dec. 1, 1985, nearly six million Canadians tuned in. It went on to win 10 Geminis, an Emmy and a Peabody.
To this day, the miniseries is studied in film schools.
