It's not an urban problem either. Although rural areas are less populous, many also suffer from extreme poverty and food scarcity. Crawford County is one of the more rural counties in Ohio. Thousands still depend on SNAP.

So, the states with the largest numbers of SNAP recipients are no surprise: California, Texas, Florida, New York. They also have the largest populations. This map shows SNAP recipients as a percentage of each state's population. It's not a red/blue issue. It's a people issue.
