The concept of balance in media is inherently flawed. Balance between what?

For example, if I said balance was giving equal weight to the ideas of Marx and Keynes, the result would be to the left.

But instead we get halfway between Reform (right) and Labour (centre). A very right-wing position.

My father, a lifelong Tory, current cynic, challenged me to name a law that is good. Subtext: no ambiguity, both must agree, within my lifetime, not obscure.

The best I've come up with so far, is banning of leaded petrol.

This is an important and heartfelt letter. Unfortunately there has been a real blindspot among some people on the British and European left. We should oppose imperialism and fascism, wherever they occur.

Even if the US became more climate friendly overnight, it is still becoming increasingly clear that the COP process doesn't offer an effective means of fighting climate change in the timescales required.

Which leaves us with the question - what does?

Horrifying. Our nation's, politics is being driven by far right Facebook memes.

Sri Lankan AI creators => Angry Facebook posts (=Ad money) => Government policy.
"Sri Lankan influencer Geeth Sooriyapura...claims to have made $300,000 by running Facebook pages, including some which push racist, Islamophobic and anti-migrant posts aimed at British audiences."

He uses AI-generated videos, e.g. cheering on naval boats ramming into refugee vessels.

A man screams: "Stop the immigrants!"

Does he hate them, or those who look like him and he thinks abandoned him?

He claims the flag, but curses "metropolitan elites". All who disagree are targets.

Is he fighting for his nation, or against it?

Why can't we be one, he asks, hurling another insult.

Flag-wearing types love talking about "Judeo-Christian Values" or "Traditional Christian values". Except they never tell us what they are.

Why? Because they are cowards. If they gave us any list of values, it would be obvious they fall grossly short. They are scared of any accountability.

My morality is not your morality. If I imagine voting tactically for Starmer, I see in my mind's eye a dead child in Gaza shot by a sniper bullet. Voting for Starmer is pressing the trigger. The thought of doing so makes me feel physically sick.

I will not vote tactically at the next election.

A mad scientist was drunk one night and took up the bet: "I bet you can't create a creature with even less charisma than Keir Starmer." The next week he unveiled Wes Streeting with cries of "Behold", handsomely winning the bet.

Him being a Labour leadership contender is a joke.
