My favorite Henri Nouwen excerpt.
Now more than ever, one of the most tangible ways a church can love its community is by offering professional mental health care and support. In a world marked by stress, isolation and rising anxiety, accessible mental health services communicate compassion in action and reflect the care of Jesus.
The priesthood of all believers did not make everyone into church workers; rather, it turned every kind of work into a sacred calling.

I mourn the divisions and distortions that characterize today's political life. Our democracy and its people deserve better than this dysfunction.
Without the doctrine of the imago Dei, we are tempted to divide people into two groups, those who deserve our grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness, and those who don't.
A proper apology consists of conveying the 3 Rs:

* regret (genuine empathy with the other)
* responsibility (not blaming someone else) and
* remedy (your willingness to fix it)

~ Kevin Kelly
"Success means we go to sleep at night knowing that our talents and abilities were used in a way that served others."

~ Marianne Williamson

Ever wonder where the tomato on your July4th burger comes from? These Central Valley tomato harvesters spend hours bent over under the sun harvesting. On an average they lift around 170 buckets a day. Each bucket weighs 25 Ibs. It's exhausting, physical labor. WeFeedYou

When discussing change in an organization, I heard someone say the phrase "living on the edge of the inside." I like this. For someone with a prophetic bent, I think it is best, if possible, to bring about change from the inside, rather than pointing fingers from the outside.

Painfully true statement, with multiple applications to life and faith:

"There is no genuine ascent without descent."
Weekly reminder:

"When the Church tries to embody the rule of God in the forms of earthly power it may achieve that power, but it is no longer a sign of the kingdom."

there are only sacred places
