Finished Midnight Stories by Su Tong, tr Honey Watson. Loved these stories – full of the crazy energy of peasant life. Crude, funny & full of horse sense. A strong storytelling sensibility at play – no mood pieces or half ideas that evaporate. Solid memorable hits. Pub @sinoistbooks.bsky.social

yesterday, read @benegotherit.bsky.social's Lessons in Birdwatching end to end while traveling. delightfully nasty scifi that starts in "grad school sucks" territory and quickly unravels with escalation that reminds me of Gibson. recommended for those of us who like where "bad" protagonists take us!
