So who in Korea has had a good year firstly Park Bo Gum. I feel like he has managed to beat the has been allegations this year as he finally finds his feet after his military service and has proven that he’s still on of Korea’s biggest stars.

So finished dream life of Mr Kim and it was a solid show that really digs into what makes corporate culture so insidious. I feel like the son’s storyline was a bit weak but it really was a masterclass in acting by Ryu Seung Ryong who manages to make Mr Kim sympathetic but also punchable.

So finished first night with the duke and i feel like it could have been way more interesting than it is. I feel like the big problem here is how half baked the villians are. The main villian doesn’t get introduced until halfway through the show and his arc is just all over the place.

So I kinda love how dream life of Mr Kim has made me feel a degree of sympathy for a crappy manager with an inflated sense of ego. Wasn’t on my kdrama bingo card. I mean the guy has a nightmare about his wife being successful and I still feel sympathy for him.

I’m going to go for fight for my way. I do like the friends to lovers main love story here and I kinda like it’s just a fairly normal childhood with no trauma bonding. They’re just friends as children and grow into something more as they grow up. It’s nice I like it. #kdramajoychallenge

So for coming of age. I’m going for weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo. I love this show and for me it captures the messiness of youth. Plus it’s really funny iconic and I love it. Swag!!!!

Day 5 cooking scene. I do have a soft spot for this cooking scene from healer where they’ve just gotten together and Ji Chang Wook acts like a cat the whole scene. Maybe it’s because I’m a cat lover but I love how not helpful he is.

I never agree with this list but I can’t help feel that when the stars gossip is lucky twelve came out and absorbed all the hate. As much as I enjoyed watching genie it should definitely be on here and spring of youth two of the worst dramas of the year. Not sure what tempest is doing on here.
Kdramas get a lot of criticism for being too western but then Korea comes out with something like dream life of mr Kim which feels so Korean in every way that I’m amazed that it got a release on Netflix. I do really like it but it’s just not very interested in explaining itself to me which is good.

Watching dream life of mr Kim. I’m finding it quite compelling. It’s an interesting look at corporate Korea. I suspect it will be limited in its appeal but will probably do well in awards.

So slave hunters I’m probably going to get second lead syndrome for this show. Got to love a sexy widower. But also got to love his eye for design for those that don’t know this dress is supposed to be blood splattered and he draws on the lines to make them look like trees. I mean come on.

One thing I find kinda interesting about slave hunters is that the slave hunters are the protagonists but clearly not the good guys at best they’re pawns of an unjust system. I might be wrong about this but I can’t imagine a western show starting slave hunters being an action romp like this show is
