While it seems odd for a tribunal decision to be the subject of a BBC live blog, the result of that is something more nuanced than you get in the rush to publish a headline about a 300+ page judgment the instant it appears (although the engagement with the detail is still very thin).

A total stranger, who is apparently the head gardener at a stately home, decided this was an attack on his employers and replied calling me a "stupid bint."

On Threads.

Just in case you're feeling bad about not being perfect
"The British are super polite, y'all." The British upper class are among the rudest people in the world. They have a code of etiquette, but it's strictly for their own kind and designed to protect their own wealth & power. If you haven't learned that, you don't really know this country

Threads has once again decided to show me posts from Americans proclaiming themselves experts on the UK after spending a few months here, & I am reminded once again of why renouncing my U.S. citizenship hurt no more than brushing off an old scab

Masha (with lyricist Koshi Inaba) has done the theme song for his new film, Last Man: First Love. It's called Jupiter (brief instrumental version at link).
I'm reminded of when Shostakovich told friends he'd written his 8th symphony & they replied, "When?!"

Anyone who thinks Ringo wasn't good, just try even *tapping along* with "Happiness is a Warm Gun" and see how many time signature changes he steers through and never once loses the groove.
Because Ringo Starr is extremely annoying and obviously lucky (imagine being the one normal person around three legit musical geniuses) there is an idea that he was not talented. He was the best drummer in the scene! That's why they sacked Pete Best and got him as a ringer!
I’ve been listening to the Beatles today and on this topic: The fact that the “Paul McCartney was a better drummer than Ringo” myth persists just blows my mind. The drumming on “the ballad of John and yoko” might be the worst ever on a No. 1 single. Paul McCartney was a barely competent drummer.

I think a lot lately about my great-aunts who were shot for their part in the Polish resistance. I'd ask if my 18% Slavic DNA is too little to observe Dziady, but I think I've missed it this year anyway

Why do nasty, thick newspaper columnists keep saying nasty, stupid things? I don't know, maybe because you keep giving them attention and fulfilling their sole purpose in life?
