In 1998, Avtek declared bankruptcy without the 400A having completed the testing required for FAA certification. This single prototype has been sitting on the Camarillo (CMA) ramp for quite some time (October 2024).

Dialysing sucrose out of the Sediminicoccus rosea RC-LH1 complex, before concentrating and extracting the novel purple carotenoid. Its structure will be determined by NMR and fitted into the RC-LH1 cryo-EM contour density.
